To the park! To the tower!!
Dec. 12th, 2021 03:05 amAnother easy going day before Liz arrives, and
flickums plan of constant doing stuff begins!
Wer had a dinnner plans at the WTC. So, ambled down towards the World Trade Center Had a look at the memorial lakes and went into the shopping Mall in the Oculus.
Not much else to do so |i suggested we head up to Central park. Walked around a bit but not sure what to do. But we had seen lots of tours being promoted by the entrance, and plenty of people being taken around the park. There were horse carriage tours, and cycle-rickshaw tours. Heard mixed things about how well treated the horses are so went for a rickshaw.
Well, it turns out these are horribly, horribly expensive. Around $200 for a 1 hour tour. And while the guy seemed willing to negotiate, that was way too much. So we decided to find something else to do when another rickshaw rder offered us a short guided tour with two stops for $60. Seemed like a good deal. The guy's name was Mac and he was very friendly. Showed us a lot of places with movie connections. Although Flick noticed his vie knowledge was slightly flawed in one or two areas,
We then returned to the WTC, queued up to get tickets to the observatory, and were told it's closed. Wel, that was disappointing. Went to grab a drink and decide what to do. A short time later the WTC restaurant at the top of the tower called Flick and cancelled our reservation. That was disappointing. I guess that's today's daily cock-up out of the way.
Ah well. We know where some reasonably nice restaurants are. Went to the one we ended up in a couple of days ago.
Disappointing though. I was looking forward to eating atop a skyscraper.
