Phew. Up to date at last. I can talk about today.

I went to the model engineering exhibition with Claire and Julian.

These guys.

Pics aren't great. Digi cams only a silly cheapy, but I don't have to wait to get them developed, and my film isn't finished in my half decent camera.

Anyway, some kids were looking at Sir Killalot, and their parents went to take a photo. The guy in charge let them sit on it. Presumably felt that they're not going to break it if Razer didn't.

So anyway, looked around. There were some rather good models, lots of stands selling things, and this fantastic garden railway with radio controlled steam trains. Also saw some hot air engines. Those are pretty clever. Based on air expanding, and pushing a cylinder, which pushes a wheel which pushes another cylinder which pushes the air into a different section of the heating chamber where it can cool. Also this rather funky trolley that went up and down a rail, and reversed automatically due to the cunning nature of how the oscillating motion is transferred to rotary motion.

Julian was after .. Not quite sure exactly, but he wants to build a flyweight robot for Robot Wars type things. Sounds like it could be fun.
