I declared 4 days of celebration in honour of my birthday. It seemed like a good idea. Once again I've done a lot but haven't been near a computer. In non chronological order.

I'll just cover non-birthday stuff for now. I have to finish unpacking. I have unpacked with vigour, but now my nice tidy room is no longer tidy.

Cookies

I made cookies and brought them into work in honour of my last day of being 28. Once again, people were shocked at my vast age. I still need a better cookie recipe though. I did have a very nice cookie atthe house of Goth. I must pester [livejournal.com profile] invisigoth51 for recipe.

Interview

I'd arranged a job interview in Cardiff for Monday since I was still in Bristol, and it saved an extra journey.

I think the interview went reasonably well. And it's a good job. Sadly, I don't like the location. Commuting from Bristol would not be viable and really don't want to move to Cardiff. So close.

It's interesting though. While I complain about my job, on the whole, it's actually better than most of the other jobs I've interviewed for. I do miss Artworks though.

Kiting

Tried to fly some kites on Sunday.

The wind wan't having it. It was gusty. We could launch some kites. It was just a little tought to keep them up there. Especially when you're like me and have no idea how to control a kite.

Kite pictures are here

Brighton Marina

Since I was in Sussex, I thought I'd visit Brighton Marina with my mum, whle dad got on with some ssential cooking. They have a nice exhibition of sand sculptures there. Apparently they're held together with egg white. That's a lot of eggs. I took some nice snaps.

Oh rats. I resolved I'd wait until your birthday had actually happened before giving you my best wishes. No surprise I end up being late... sorry.

Anyway: Happy (belated) Birthday, Old Guy! :)

The cookies you had at the weekend were Ginger cookies:
You will need:
3/4 cup Margarine 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup molasses 1 egg 1tbsp ground ginger 2tsp ground cinnamon 2 cups unbleached white flour 1/2tsp salt 2tsp baking soda (some extra white sugar)

Preheat oven 400 deg F
Cream marg and sugars until fluffy, add egg, ginger and cinnamon and beat well
Combine flour, salt and baking soda and add to creamed ingredients.
Shape dough into roughly 1 inch balls by rolling in palms of hands, roll in the extra sugar. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet, press slightly.
Bake for 6-8 mins for very soft cookies. 15 mins for cookies like i made or 20 mins at a lower heat for cookies a little like ginger bread.
