I was listening on the radio t a report talking about bank bonuses and that there was a person who complained that the bank was taking too much risk. 

As it turned out, he was right.  But that doesn't actually mean anything.  Hindsight is always 20-20.  Here's an example: I can predict with 100% accuracy, the results of 5 coin tosses.  I'll make 31 other predictions that are wrong... 

I read in the Metro that 11% of girls aged 12-18 are allowed to have boys stay overnight.  Sounds pretty awful doesn't it?  But a third of that group is above 16.  If 33% of that group are allowed boys to stay overnight, then that would explain the statistics perfectly, but wouldn't sound nearly as shocking.

As part of a whale tracking scheme, Greenpeace decided that they should find a name for one of their whales.   Some 11 000 names were submitted, and the public were invited to choose the ones they like best. 

The ideas are often poetic, and apt for a whale - names such as "Kaimana, meaning "divine power of the ocean" in Polynesian, and "Sedna" - the Innuit goddess of the sea were considered. 

After an enthusiastic campaign by Reddit and BoingBoing, the leading cnadidate by a huge margin is "Mr. Splashy Pants"!

These girls remind me of someone I know.

Really can't be bothered actually working today, but there's only so much time I can waste doing non-work stuff.  I need an extra day of weekend.  Maybe I should have taken a half day and gone to blazingskies' bash. 

Random opinions for the week:

Paris Hilton appears to be in and out of jail.  A lot of commentators seem to think that the reason for the interest is because of Paris Hilton.  Can't speak for everyone but the reason I'm keeping track is because I get a little upset with te way the law doesn't seem to apply to the rich. 

Somewhat disturbed by a repeated suggestion that foreign aid does more harm than good to developing nations. 

From a couple of weeks ago, the foreign office said John Prescott's attitude was 'eff them because I'll be the one coming back with the effing sun tan'.  It must be nice to be a politician who is immune from being forced to resign.  Still, remarkable honesty from a politician.

Random Rambling

Also discovered there's a Ceroc class within walking distance.  Shame they do the classes on Sundays - my chill out in front of the telly day. 

Not really sure if that's what I want to do with my evenings.  I keep meaning to look at acting, but then find myself intimidated because I don't know if any of them want competent actors.
