Contracting Woes

Why aren't agents calling me up about anything except the same frikken permanent games jobs that they've been bugging me about for ages?
Okay, the place I worked for at the end of last year asked if I could do 5 weeks. This has gone down to 3. And they're still dithering.
Rockstar don't want me. Microsoft don't either but were very nice about it. Sony decided to cancel the project. This was not a huge surprise but I was expecting that to happen after I'd been working there for a few months.
Agents keep calling me up offering me permanent games jobs in silly parts of the country. I don't want to move away from Brighton, I don't want to work in games. Okay - if offered a really great permie position I'll take it but I quite like the contracting idea.
One agent suggested Kuju might be a good opportunity. Perhaps she should have looked at my previous employer first.
Would chase up that image processing one were it not for this 3 week gig looking likely.
Not sure why the finance people weren't interested, perhaps that was the one that wanted several years of C# dev experience. I can do the job, but unfortunately there's a segment in the chain that thinks language choice is significant.
Would like some Embedded C experience. I cut my teeth in C on 16 bit integer only systems with less than 1MiB of RAM, and have good low level understanding so I think I'd have a good start. Can't get experience without some experience though.
ION (for LJ peeps): Gave an armful of blood today. Got free tea and biccies in exchange. Well worth it.
