What I did on my holidays

This was what I wrote on my PDA during the week.
Mostly in terse note form. Since this is my first update since the holiday started, there's quite a bit.
Mostly in terse note form. Since this is my first update since the holiday started, there's quite a bit.
Day 1
Met
tinkerbell1980 in London. Went to forbidden planet. Went to camden. Went to hostel to pick up tal's bags.
Camden probably a mistake. Was a little rushed after.
Missed desired train
Ticket machine refused to give Tink a ticket.
Stood in queue. World's slowest ticket sale. How do people spend 10 minutes buying a ticket? Fortunately we could be in 2 queues since there were 2 of us.
Ran to airport check-in.
Ran to security
Stood in security queue. That was soooo slow. Forgot about swiss army knife card. Lost that:(
.need to try getting in to tink's pants <--Tink wrote that.
Day 2
Went shopping.
bought camera bag and jumper. Looked at shops. Saw "Monster House". Monster house characters much more resourceful and intelligent than those in Adrift. Very amusing. Well worth watching but not essential.
Day 3
Hired a car
Went to Tara Hill. Tink bouht a goblet and cast a spell.
Went to Loughcrew passage tombs
Ate in oldcastle.
sugar packets have Gaellic sayings. E.g "good men can often be found wearing women's underwear".... no... That should be "earing worn breaches"
Turned wrong way to Dublin. Ended up half way to Cavan before realising that usually Dublin should be signposted on the road to Dublin. I gather it's a fairly significant city. Turned round. Stopped to let a car in front turn right. Brakes seemed a bit dodgy so had to brake quite hard. We had better brakes than the car behind. CRUNCH. Everyone seemed very good natured about it. Nice to meet the locals. Garda officer was friendly and asked about holiday. Other car was badly bashed in the front. Our car was a little dented. Evidently Tink's protection spell earlier worked.
Stopped for tea because we're British and were slightly rattled. They also had profound sugar said. One sugar sachet said "what is strange is wonderful". Nice Inn. Irish music. Tink wanted to Dance.
Day 4
Took car back. Company didn't seem too upset with me for breaking it.
Met friends in the afternoon. Had some hot chocolate.
Went on a horsie drawn carriage
Went on a viking tour. Tour guide was terrible punner.
Day 5
It's my birthday. Met
tinkerbell1980,
tictactoepony & Brain in park. Got given presents. Got Tara Buffy Figure & chocolate & book of puzzles & games & a card game, & a lot of vouchers for favours. "Tink being calm & focussed & mature" turned out to be a bit of a white elephant because a sane Tink is boring.
Used trip to Guinness storehouse token to see how Guinness is made. Then got complimentary Guinness . Met
celticfreedom in the park and saw 1980's version of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Very funny. Had Indian meal. Went to pub.
Vouchers meant I got lapdance from Tink. And a snog. And a song (happy birthday; Marillyn Monroe style). And a drink from each friend.
Checked into world's most horrible hostel. Woken up at about 2:50am by loud drunk vomitting Irishmen. Made a run for it. Top Travel tip - Avoid the Citi Backpackers Hostel on Gardiner Street. This site says "Avoid like a bad case of heamarroids". Good Advice.
Found nice safe Guesthouse. Took a long time. Everywhere was full. Hazelbrook house had a free room though. We were very happy. Last room in Dublin.
Day 6
Very tired. Seem to only be awake on alternate days this holiday. Nice guesthouse. Decent cooked breakfast in the morning. Anywhere would seem nice after the shitti hostel.
Managed to see the art gallery and The Natural History museum.
Also saw lots of football supporters. This explains why it was so hard to find a room. Seems Cork are playing Kilkenny. Kilkenny won. Cork supporters seemed to be quite happy about it. Violence free football is such a nice idea. Maybe we should try it in England.
Day 7
Saw Shakespeare in the park again. Took lots of photos. Went to the castle but they were out.
Walked past a pub. They had an improv night. I thought it sounded like fun. So I dragged Tink along (she didn't protest too much). They were late opening, and Tink waas too engrossed talking to someone in another country, so I started chatting to a random Chicagoan. The upstairs bar had lots of pictures of comedians who had presumably performed there. Very good group. Audience were pretty good, although I'm sure most of the audience input came from our side of the room. I now know that Mashed Potato is a colour, and a nuclear powered umberella is an important invention.
