One of my favourite ways to spend an evening these days is to make myself a tasty dinner, sit down in front of the telly and put on a DVD (or watch something TiVo watched for me).

Last weekend I thought I'd see Scott Pilgrim. Put it on. Decided it's the sort of film that's best watched in company, and so put on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen instead. A pretty terrible confusing mess of a film that I'm pleased I didn't pay actual money for. Wasn't even amusingly bad in the way that Transmorphers: Fall of Man was.

But anyway, it occurred to me that I haven't actually done a video watching evening for ages. It used to be a regular Friday evening thing when I was in Bristol. It did help that I had friends within a couple of minutes walk from where I lived, of course.

I should do this again.

Wonder if I could persuade [livejournal.com profile] tyrshundr and Andrew to drop by.

Am fully packed and ready to travel to Satellite 3. Arriving shortly after midnight.  Have just about managed to squeeze my rocket pack into my bag.  Come to think of it, I could have used the rockets as sock storage.

I sure do have a lot of tickets:
  • Debit card sales voucher
  • Card with my address on
  • Booking fee receipt
  • Another booking fee receipt
  • A £2.50 refreshments voucher.
  • An inexplicable second £2.50 refreshments voucher.
  • First class ticket from London to Glasgow.
  • First class seat reservation from London to Glasgow
  • First class sleeper ticket from Glasgow to London
  • First class berth reservation from Glasgow to London
The plan is, trundle down to London after work.  Find somewhere to eat.  St Pancras is probably a good place for that.  There's actually quite a lot of time to kill.  Amble to Euston.  Get on train.  Enjoy first class comfort.  Check into hotel.  Enjoy convention  Drink lots.  Stagger from convention hotel to train, sleep on the way back.  Arrive in Euston feeling fresh and cheerful, or exhausted on account of attempting to sleep on a train.

Technically this means I probably could have got there at the same time if I drove.  Assuming here's no traffic problems between here and Glasgow.  Of course that would also mean having to get back by car, and not drinking on day 2 of the convention.  I'm rather taken with the idea of taking the sleeper back.  Travel while sleeping seems a highly civilised way of doing things.  Am rather excited by that.

I have Chianna, Sansa Fuze and Yomiko (a.k.a Netbook, mp3 player an Kindle) so I figure I should remain amused and occupied while on the train.

Now I just need to panic about forgetting something important and I'm done.
