Time travel day.

Also [personal profile] flickums 's birthday although we'd already done cake and presents.

We started with a trip to Victorian England. Went to the Sherlock Holmes museum on Baker Street. It was quite a nice display although a lot smaller than we expected. A pokey little townhouse with 3 floors to explore and a gift shop. Some nice exhibits giving a nice Victorian feel to the place and some displays representing some of the classic stories but not really a lot to see. Gift shop felt bigger. Flickums recieved an extra prezzie of a Sherlock Holmes jigsaw puzzle and I received a Doctor Watson rubber duck, that has a suitably amazed expression.

Lots of time left, so we decided to head to the South Bank, and to the year 2000, and to the London Eye. Stopped for tea and cookie to get aout of the wind, and then to the Eye!  I showed off my knowledge of London Landmarks. Flickums was a bit of a fraidy-mouse finding the height a little upsetting.

Hunted for food. On thee south bank itself are just a bunch of the usual chain cafes, so went further inland. Didn't have to go far. In fact just around the other side of the South Bank Centre, where there was a street food market type thing, where we had Tempura Brie - Brie deep fried in batter. Unfortunately most of the cheese had escaped from mine, so it was mostly slightly cheese batter shells. Followed up with a Mulled Cider which tasted rather too sour for me. Didn't really have a lot of luck until Flickums disappeared and reappeared with an amaretto flavoured mulled wine, which was very tasty.

Returned to hotel room wherein Flickums took a nap. Went out again because I had a Christmas present to use - A dinner and theatre ticket. Dinner caused a bit of confusion because they didn't have a reservation. They seemed familiar with the offer though, and found us a table though and gave us menus which was a bit confusing because these things are usually set menus. Still, a much more capable waiter then saw our printout and gave us the correct menu and cocktails.

And finally we saw the play - Back To The Future - The Musical.

And it's great fun! A lot of minor changes from the movie, but the basic plot is there. George McFly seems like they cloned Crispin Glover. All the driving effects are really great! Flick felt the Doc needed to be reined in a bit. I think that you can't rein in Doctor Emmett Brown! Key bits of music remained. Power of love, Johnny B Goode (although without the Marvin Berry / Chuck Berry joke).

Flickums now has 10 more minutes of birthday, so will have to use it wisely because fussing stops at midnight
