I marched into the cave, armed with Meredith, the Arctic Shock Super Soaker, holding Eliza - a small lightweight pistol in my other hand.  Eliza had shown promise on the firing range, but Meredith was completely untested.

Did I see a movement?  There's someone in the shadows.

"Eat watery death!", I yelled soaking him with a full barrol of dihydrogen monoxide.  He shot back.  It was only a flesh wound.  Water chamber empty, I fell back, pumping vigourously.  I heard the same noise from my opponent.  He had a more powerful weapon.  I didn't have a chance.  All I could do was fall back and await reinforcements.  More guns arrived, and we charged.  Emptying barrels and drowning our opponent.  He fired back but his supply was spent.  All he could do was run, followed by streams of hissing liquid.

We'd managed to get a beachhead.  But there were more people up ahead, and half the platoon were soaked.  I heard a scuffle in the darkness.  SPLOOSH!  I didn't hit anyone, but I was close.  I dodged behind a rock, and managed to avoid a cascade.  But he was out of pressure, and I still had another gun.  Most of the inhabitants eliminated, I found a  place to wait to sit in wait.  Waiting for the others to come to try to reclaim the cave.  My eyes were slowly becoming accustomed to the dark. .  They came.  They had no idea where I was.  It was a slaughter.

War is hell.  Or at least very very wet.

And not blow ourselves and each other up.

Or if people could realise that terrorism is really not very effective for anything other than killing a lot of people.

Brits carry on as normal. We're like that. We start mocking the terrorists. Then we start ignoring them. Yesterday's attempt ranked as slightly more important than The Ashes.

And we still don't really know what they want.

They could probably get a lot more support for their goals if they went about it in a peaceful manner.

Current alert level: mildly ticked off.

It's taking me an extra 20 minutes to get to work these days.

Granted, this isn't as bad as losing a life/limb/family member in an explosion, but it's a damn inconvenience.

Apparently extra busses have been put on the number 91 route. Doesn't quite explain why I was waiting for 20 minutes for a service on Monday. On the way back I just missed the bus, and the next one was allegedly 9 minutes away. Since the busses normally come once every 8-10 minutes, I'm wondering where the extra busses are.

Decided to stay on the train a little longer and get out at Highbury and Islington. It's a nice day for a walk.

Still, I am not going to surrender to terrorism. I'm still going gaming this week. As long as we still have tea we will not be stopped!

For those who may be worried, I'm fine.

I really didn't want to get up this morning.

Next time I'll remember to listen to my spidey sense.

Alice never said that to Ralph!

Three references in two lines. I can almost guarantee that nobody will get all three.

So, the nation gears up for a potential terrorist attack, and potential potential war. Vivendi Universal recalls their liaison with our company, using the unstable situation as a reason.

The conspiracy theorist in me tells me that this is just a pretext. They want the guy back for completely unrelated reasons. Can't think what those reasons could be though. LA isn't any less of a target than London, surely.

Plus side was, Vivendi paid for a meal. Ken Lo's. Very nice proper Chinese food. No idea whether Chinese food in China is anything like this. One other thing - everyone is perfectly proficient with chopsticks, yet non of them can manage silver service. As I said, curious.
